The Adel, Iowa, community is mourning the unexpected passing of Dr. L. Eric Anderson, a longtime dentist whose career was marked by more than two decades of service to patients and families in central Iowa.

The announcement from Eric’s family and Adel Dental Group described him as much more than a dentist. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, as well as a friend and colleague who cared deeply about the people and communities he served.

Eric spent more than 26 years caring for patients and families in West Des Moines. For the past 11 years, he was also closely connected with Adel Dental Group and the Adel community. What began as a second dental office eventually became another home for Eric and his wife, Diana.

Remembering Dr. Eric Anderson

Eric’s career was built around dentistry, but the relationships he developed with patients were at the heart of his work. He valued the trust placed in him and considered it a privilege to care for generations of families throughout his career.

Adel Dental Group identifies him as Dr. L. Eric Anderson, DDS. According to the practice, he graduated from Marquette University in 1994 and the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1999. He later completed advanced practice management studies through the Kellogg School of Management and served as an adjunct associate professor at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.

In August 2000, Anderson purchased a dental practice in West Des Moines. His connection to Adel grew later, with the practice stating that he purchased Dr. Howard Belsheim’s Adel office in 2015.

Over the years, Adel became increasingly important to Eric and his family. The family and dental group said he had recently committed himself to working full-time at Adel Dental Group and was excited about the practice’s future and his continued involvement in the community.
